They focused more on African American boys than anyone else, which irks me, but I suppose you have to grab attention some way.
I wasn't even planning on watching it all that much as I started it and skipped like 10 mins of it then left it on and it captured my attention. Some documentaries have a way of doing that, so i reset from the beginning just to see how it starts. It's not bad.
I'm a supporter of putting people outside of their environment as a way to instill in them growth and open mindedness. Exposure to things outside of your world tends to help you understand and look at things from different viewpoints. Non-obviously exposure doesn't mean just travel there just to have some vapid experience (Oh I traveled to EuRoPe, ASiA, AfRiCa, man who cares). There needs to be a challenge there needs to be energy, some activity that brought you there that would motivate you and motivate others to bring your guards down and really approach things differently.
Wilderness Works is one of those social organizations that help to actually change their community bit by bit which actually helps change attitudes and therefore the country.
I'm sure there are other efforts out there in different states, but this non-profit got the highlight.
