Ah Project Phantasy, so original. I'm far enough along that I might as well write about this stuff in a series like Atlas Fury (Project Atlas). I'm excited about the work like I was with Atlas Fury.
Project Phantasy is an online multiplayer game for mobile devices The objective is to land as many hits on the opposing team with your avatars as possible. It's a real time strategy game, on the lines of Clash Royale which is still fun to play. There is no general theme to the game as it touches on many themes.
Politics is surely one of the themes of the game and that pushes the game up to rated T for Teen territory. Sorry kids gotta get permission ðŸ˜ðŸ˜¤. It's an incredibly diverse game where the assets are taken from an older game project of mines. Spent quite a bit on the assets too.
It's a stupidly simple game that anyone can pickup and challenge other people 1v1, 2v2, hell might even support unbalanced configurations like 1v2. I'm thinking about how a Co-Op PvE would work, so the CPU players don't have to be easy. Practice mode would just be a demo level that anyone can join and spawn avatars against a CPU player that continuously spawns avatars.
I hope to be able to share screenshots and videos in upcoming posts before a beta. I wrote the server in Rust for obvious reasons. I've posted about Godot's unfortunate weaknesses, so won't be using that. Reliability on the client side is #1 priority. I hate when a client crashes in the middle of a game especially when things are going so f*ing well.
It's likely that Mac/Windows/Linux/HTML5/Facebook would see a release some time depending on how the mobile open beta goes. Epic Games Store/itch.io will likely be the publishing areas for these for non-mobile.
Super excited to sprint to an Alpha take stock and look towards an open beta then I can do the same for a more broader casual child friendly Co-Op game that a 2 year old should be able to play.
