I figure since I have a connection in Singapore, might as well visit Singapore where they show me and accompany me around. They suggested Thailand as a second destination, obviously I considered different countries seriously and Vietnam was another potential, but I figured Thai food is one of the best so let me go try Thailand.
I met this connection in Japan and very happy to have met them. Some activities have a 2 person minimum, so it works out. I can only hope they don't feel pressured into doing it though.
Singapore is a small controlled, planned summer year round country, but plenty of activities. Thailand is monumentally bigger compared to it and there are a lot more tourists there considering it is cheap. Both are majority Buddhist, but Singapore is more diverse and has 20% non-religious which is shocking. I don't think I have to worry about being converted into a Buddhist unlike Western countries and their continuous conversion "outreach" programs.
Who knows what could happen, maybe find other connections maybe turn in my citizenship and pack up and ship to South East Asia. Unlikely, but this will help broaden my perspective on urban design, lifestyles and food outside of Murica. Tokyo was a good start, possibly will go to Japan again soon too, depending.
