MMmmmmm, yeah I think I've had lactose intolerance for most of my life, but wasn't aware of it. I was a stoopid kid. Drinking milk or ingesting any kind of dairy leading to loud farts is a sign of lactose intolerance. Eggs and other fiber rich foods sometimes cause farts, but nothing as bad as dairy for me.
I found out about my lactose intolerance in college when I didn't have much money to spend freely (as I have now 😁) so I cut out certain foods including milk which I usually used for cereal. There were just times my stomach would feel crampy and loud farts would be let out. The experience is not very good on some days. Maybe I drank a lot of milk that day.
I know that I started drinking probiotic stuff like Kefir to help and it did help, but not enough. Fat free milk seemed to have less incidence. Lactose free milk and Lactase pills weren't in my purview until my late twenties when my workplace had Lactaid milk. Pretty much spent most of my life drinking lactose and suffering from it.
Well I can really only be glad I worked where I worked to be aware of Lactaid milk else I'd probably be suffering from much worse lactose intolerance. It gets worse as you age. These days if I ingest Lactose there will probably be a day where there is a lot of gas in my stomach and that'll cause complications, so I have Lactase pills to help with it. Lactaid's Lactase pills are great.
I'm not saying that foods without lactose are better for anyone, but in my case it's better than going to the hospital one day with a bloated stomach. Just have to always make sure to ask for vegan, dairy free, low lactose (Swiss Cheese) or no cheese foods when I don't have my pills.
When I make my own donuts or pan pound cakes, I make sure to use Lactaid milk. 😉
