But "THE CHILDREN" has been used as a rallying cry for passing highly restrictive laws spanning from cursing, rap, video games, pornography, soda, whatever people don't like. Texas, Florida are part of the top 5 biggest states by population and you have their governors signing laws to legislate "social media" and "porn". It's never worked, the "children" find ways to bypass along with not so restrictive parents giving them access. They don't just stop at "THE CHILDREN" either, its just the excuse to shoehorn beliefs.
What's the point of passing laws where they use vague terms? What is social media? Facebook? Discord? MacRumors forums? Reddit? Wikipedia? Porn, so WirePorn contains the P-word, should that be restricted to adults too? Just ban the children from the internet and have ISPs take IDs for all subscribers and users. Oh right, no one wants to do that.
Where does this idea that banning access to certain places on the internet come from? It certainly can't be from the politicians themselves which leads me to think this is some right wing fascist "Christian" billionaire's dream to ban anything that doesn't fit what they believe. It is possible they believe that parents don't know how to raise their children.
But "THE CHILDREN", no speak for yourself and say but "YOUR CHILDREN". Learn to parent and mind your business about everyone else's child. Learn to educate yourself and your damn children to moderate their use. This is the same issue with porn and sex, no education and then expecting them to just figure it out in the end and get pissed off when the child FIGURES IT OUT and gets addicted because they are rebels now. Such foolishness.
Wait until AI is targeted. "OMG AI SO BAD IT IS ACTUALLY TEACHING MY CHILDREN THINGS!" "THE CHILDDDDDREEEEENNNN ARE LEARNING!!!!"
Education comes in many ways and to restrict the flow of information is the way to go back to the dark ages of vandals and the uneducated. Children need to be taught and supervised so they can go out on their own and be productive without these r-tarded "big government" laws.
There's no f-ing way I would have been a Software Engineer today and avoid SCAMS and other stupid shit without unfettered access to the web to educate myself.
