Even reading a Wikipedia page on it isn't particularly helpful. I don't think it particularly exists or is differentiated from conservatism in general. This term was thrown around as for being excluded from AP Black History course, which there isn't any significant history around it.
Are slaves considered to be black conservatives and slave rebels black radicals just because the slaves didn't do anything radical and obeyed their side of a contract? There isn't much to learn from people who put their head down in fear just to live outside of learning to do the opposite of it to instill change. Last time I checked, history is all about change.
Conservatism is defined as being respectful of authority/institutions, preserving customs (culture, religion, etc.) and history, and having pride in yourself, Identity (and I guess your immediate tribe). At least these are the core principles and patterns that stick out. Obviously, the Republican Party, lmfao, does not particularly have these attributes as they are more regressive in nature. Also these core principles are not the ONLY attributes for conservatism, it's clear that anyone can have these core principles and not be conservative.
Personally, I think conservatism is for poor people. It appeals to poor people. It's easy for people to grasp. You are born in this world and are taught conservative principles from the start. Any more education opens your mind outside of those core principles. ANYWAY, this isn't a post about conservatism or a criticism of it in general.
Black conservatism, what is it really? Are there any blacks out there that want to go back to slavery, Jim Crow or institute regressive policies such as segregation? Black conservatism is left of typical republican conservatism then. I don't see anything particularly remarkable about it though outside of those core principles. There isn't anything particularly called "White Conservatism", so... why does it even exist as a term?
It just seems like a term of other-ism if you ask me. If there is a black conservatism then there must be a white, asian, hispanic, pacific islander, etc. pattern of conservatism as well eh?
Black Conservatism - Blacks who have core principles of conservatism or laughingly just Clarence Thomas.
Excuse me as I laugh at those who speak this term and don't consider themselves racist. Euhm, Ron DeSantis and his racist Floridians (otherwise known as people who want to hold black people down).
