Sleep Apnea is a killer. Slowly but surely as you age. Isn't it crazy for your body to be set to kill itself by hypoxia. Your brain is deprived of oxygen while you are sleeping and this affects brain chemistry as well as how your body regulates itself over time.
A sleep study doesn't take much effort. If you've been groggy, not well rested, irritated, stressed out for no good reason, waking up in the middle of the night, I'd reckon on Sleep Apnea. Typically go to a Neurololgist, ENT or Dentist to do it.
Obstructive and Central Sleep Apnea are the two types of Apnea. The body is not a perfect machine, so there are different levels of each type. One can be worse than the other.

Who knows, a sleep study might save your life. What's there to lose than your enjoyment of life. I've done it, found I have it and use a CPAP, made a world of difference over a few weeks of use. CPAP is for life, so surgery is something to consider to wean yourself off of it. There are different kinds of surgery some not invasive.
Not convinced, well you don't have to believe me:
Sleep apnea is no joke. It’s the catalyst to a laundry list of health issues, especially the ones that are killing middle-aged men at alarming rates. Studies have linked it to heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimers, among other maladies. Heart health problems in particular tend to come paired with sleep apnea: up to 80 percent of people with cardiovascular disease also suffer from sleep apnea, according to the American Heart Association (AHA). Left untreated, the disorder effectively triples your risk of dying.
I did the sleep study and CPAP without insurance because a lot of doctors are very bad at this. They assume you are healthy despite what has been happening despite your notes. Also because doctors', who accept insurance, schedules tend to be filled for a while. Some doctors are attentive and actually give out multiple suggestions based on what they've seen and know. It's not a shock to me that some doctors don't look at all they need to to make accurate opinions.
You can be healthy, eat healthy, do everything you need to do, but this will not stop you from being choked at night while sleeping. Do the study especially if you snore, prevent later health issues and see what can be done and if you do get a CPAP, get the nasal pillows (gel preferably) and the appropriate sized mask. Makes a world of a difference.
